A2 Business Studies

A2 Business Studies is in 2 units, divided into several lessons. The lessons encourage research using websites and text books for reference with a self examination at the end of each lesson to ensure the correct learning has taken place.....if you need to you have the opportunity to revisit your study and try the tests again. You will also complete some assignments to entrench your learning. You will be asked to send one of the assignments to your tutor for marking.

The A Level Chemistry course is essential for those who want to study chemistry with a contemporary vision. This course will help you develop data analysis skills and give you a better understanding and a deeper appreciation for how science works. Chemistry is relevant outside of the confines of the laboratory as well and this A Level course will teach the relevance of chemical sciences in real life settings.

Our course has 2 aspects that will develop all the skills you need to pass your exams 1 The study of the laws, theories and models of chemistry, exploring the practical function of these in both understanding and its connection to everyday life. 2 The context-led approach reflects on the applications of chemical knowledge and looks at the keystone concepts. This A level Chemistry course combines both the above approaches, so learners benefit from a mixed approach. The feature of distance learning is its flexibility so the combined approach works far better for learners. The assessment criteria and structure is the same for both approaches. After each theme learners submit a tutor marked assignment. Big bonus here – you email it to your tutor as a word or rtf attachment. There is a practical element to the A Level Chemistry and distance learning students must reflect on the practical knowledge as well as theoretical. This unit will be undertaken in our external laboratory. An independent coursework marker at the examination centre marks and moderates the work. There may be a fee for the marking and you should download the Private Candidates Handbook from AQA’s website to assist you in finding an examination centre and registering. This course focuses on British and European politics. At AS Level the focus is on learning about key British political institutions and organisations, while A2 develops key political issues and links British politics in with the increasingly significant European Union. The AS and A2 modules link together and assessment is all done by examination as there is no coursework option.

Like most academic subjects at A-Level, Government & Politics has a distinct language and terminology all of its own. You are expected not only to recognise and understand these terms in examination papers, but use them correctly in your answers. If you have problems remembering terms it is a good idea to write them on index cards or to develop a file of key words as you go along in order to help you learn them.

History, as its name suggests, is a study of the past. It is certainly true to say that in order to understand the conflicts and difficulties of the present world you need to understand what has happened over previous years. Many of today’s politicians and world leaders are well aware of the events of the past and often use them as guidelines in dealing with present problems and crises. History encourages you to absorb and learn key facts and data before analysing which pieces of information are the most important and most significant. A key skill of any historian is to make an informed judgement on an important historical issue having weighed up all of the information and evidence available.

From 2008 onwards, History, like most A-Levels, is altering its format and reducing the number of units/modules from 6 to 4. This means that there are two units to be studied at AS Level (1 and 2), and two units to be studies at A2 Level (3 and 4).

All of the information within the units is written in line with the requirements of the Edexcel examination board specification. All units are broken down into clear chronological periods and topics, and students should spend the amount of time studying for each topic as advised by their course tutor.

This course should be attended by anyone interested in bookkeeping and accounting.

This highly rewarding course does not have any deadlines for enrolments and there are no requirements for prior learning or experience. You do need to have Basic English reading and writing skills along with Basic Math skills in order to understand the concepts presented herein. Therefore, you should preferably have B grades but at least a C grade in mathematics at GCSE level or equivalent.

The course is divided into four modules, each of which is divided into lessons to facilitate the progress of your learning.

You will learn the fundamentals of record-keeping and the purposes, techniques and consequences of effective financial accounting.

A2 Accounting: The Course

The course is divided into two modules, each of which is divided into lessons to facilitate the progress of your learning.

You will learn businesses profitability, performance, costing and budgeting.

Note that the numbering of the modules and lessons continues from the AS course. You will need to study them in sequence.

You should at least have a C in mathematics and BB for science. The rest of your grades should average to B grade if you are to study A Level Biology. Strong academic abilities are important as Biology is a demanding A Level course.

At AS level there are two units for the course and a further two units for A2 specification.

A Level Mathematics is not a very difficult subject. You are required to have at least a C grade in GCSE Mathematics in order to attempt this course. This condition ensures that you understand all mathematical concepts and individual modules easily.

This course will equip you with the right mathematical knowledge so that you can understand and implement logical assumptions, advanced concepts, and computation techniques.

By the end of your course, you will be able to work with complex functions and understand how to calculate forces in mechanics.
